Purple Haze lab report

For Purple Haze, the clearest signal is not a single terpene but a narrow split: terpinolene led 43% of terpene-detail tests and limonene led 35%; the 20% THC line was met by 71% of flower tests.1

Key findings

  1. Terpene leadership is close in Purple Haze: terpinolene led 43% of terpene tests and limonene led 35%.1
  2. Purple Haze met the 20% total THC cutoff in 71% of 116 flower tests; the 25% mark drew 22%, and 30% drew 3.4%.1
  3. With a median total THC of 22.39%, Purple Haze ranks 15th of 52, between Georgia Pie and Cinderella 99.1
  4. The closest median terpene mixes are Sour Diesel (86%), OG Kush (84%) and Granddaddy Purple (84%).1
  5. The high-THC third and low-THC third were nearly tied on median total terpenes, at 1.51% and 1.56%.1
  6. Weedmaps menus placed Purple Haze flower at 37th among 58 tracked strains, with 93 listings spread across 11 of 27 markets.2

How often does Purple Haze test above 20% THC?

Using an at-or-above cutoff, Purple Haze reached 20% total THC in 71% of 116 flower tests, so most batches crossed that line; 22% reached 25% or higher, 3.4% reached 30% or higher, and the median was 22.39%.1

Do sellers list higher THC for Purple Haze than databases?

Yes, seller and label figures for Purple Haze run higher than database figures in this check, and two of five single-number THC claims sat above the 22.39% lab median; the highest was 26% from AllBud, a level reached by 14% of tests, or about 1 in 7.1,3

At the low end, the 16% figure from Leafly was a threshold that 85% of the file reached, or about 8 in 10.1,4 Seller and label entries skewed higher than database entries: the seller-side midpoint was met by 55% of tests, versus 71% for the database midpoint.1

For ranges, Weedmaps gave 13–26%, the bracket with the broadest lab overlap at 78%; the 16–20% range from High Times had the narrowest overlap at 15%.1,5,6 Published THC entries are not batch IDs; for a jar, read that batch's certificate of analysis.

Can averages change Purple Haze's lead terpene?

Yes, averages can change Purple Haze's lead terpene: terpinolene led the test-by-test count at 43% of 81 detailed tests, limonene led 35%, β-caryophyllene led 11%, and the median-level view instead puts limonene first.1

A median-level view flips the lead to limonene, so an averaged profile can disagree with the test-by-test winner.1

Leafly's dominant-terpene entry is myrcene; in this lab set, β-myrcene led 11% of tests, well behind terpinolene at 43%.1,4 High Times also lists myrcene; the same file has β-myrcene leading 11%.1,6

81 of 81 terpene-detail records in this file are from Nevada, which means the split mainly reflects flower submitted to labs there.1

Which strain is least like Purple Haze in terpenes?

Among 36 compared strains, Durban Poison is the least similar terpene match for Purple Haze at 49%; the nearest median terpene profiles are Sour Diesel (86%), OG Kush (84%) and Granddaddy Purple (84%) in the lab data overall.1

The nearest profiles are chemically close even though their median leads differ: Sour Diesel is led by β-caryophyllene, OG Kush by β-caryophyllene, Granddaddy Purple by limonene, and Durban Poison by terpinolene.1

For the method, each strain's median levels across eight terpenes become shares of their combined total; we then sum the overlap, where identical mixes score 100.1 Strains enter this comparison only with at least 30 detailed terpene records.1 It is a lab-chemistry comparison only and does not forecast anyone's response to Purple Haze.

Is Purple Haze high in median THC rank?

Among qualifying strains, Purple Haze is high in median THC rank, landing in the top third: its 22.39% median ranks 15th of 52, with Georgia Pie at 22.60% directly above and Cinderella 99 at 22.31% directly below.1

For the 25% or-higher share, Purple Haze sits 22nd; 22% of its tests reached that cutoff.1

Its middle-half span is 5.31 points, from 19.42% to 24.73%, ranking 29th narrowest among 52 strains and landing near the dataset's average consistency.1

Do higher-THC Purple Haze tests have more terpenes?

No, higher-THC Purple Haze tests did not have more total terpenes: in 81 paired tests, the group at or above 24.88% THC had a median total-terpene level of 1.51%, versus 1.56% in the group at or below 22.28% THC.1

Nevada shows the same flat-to-down pattern: the lower THC third's median total terpenes were 1.56%, while the higher third's median was 1.51%, so 1 of 1 qualifying states did not rise.1

By weight, total terpenes quantify aroma compounds; they are not an effects forecast.

What forms does Purple Haze come in?

Purple Haze comes to labs mostly as flower under the exact strain name: 83% of 145 records were flower, while concentrates accounted for 6.2%, other or unrecorded for 6.2% and pre-rolls for 3.4%.1 Only flower records feed this site's strain figures.

Longer labels were set aside too: 12 records contained Purple Haze inside a fuller product name, equal to 7.6% of records with the name present; leading examples were “Stiiizy Liquid Diamonds Purple Haze Bulk” (2), “Select-Elite Live-1.0g 510-Purple Haze” (1) and “Soma Rosa Purple Haze Flower (1 oz)” (1).1

Because added wording can mark a different product or plant, we exclude those records under our name-matching rules.

Does Purple Haze cost more than other strains?

Yes, Purple Haze was pricier in every comparable market; the Oct 4, 2026 Weedmaps snapshot counted 93 store listings for its flower inside 50 miles of each market center, with Purple Haze listed in 11 of 27 markets and placed 37th among 58 tracked strains.2

For exact eighths, comparable markets priced Purple Haze above local peers: New York, NY had a $44.25 median from 21 listings compared with $35.70 across 37 rival strains, and Los Angeles, CA had $31.12 from 12 listings compared with $25.00 across 39 rivals.2

So in the markets with enough prices to compare, Purple Haze was pricier each time.

What this data cannot tell you

  • We do not chart lab-to-lab differences: the threshold is 3 labs with 20 or more Purple Haze tests each, and this dataset falls short.1
  • Trend analysis is unavailable because the file lacks a qualifying pair: 20 or more tests in each year, with the years at least two years apart.1
  • The observations are Purple Haze flower tests from 4 states over 2015–2023, not proof for a specific jar; that question belongs to the batch certificate of analysis.1
  • The page is limited to chemistry measurements, not personal responses to Purple Haze.
